Fall is here! Early Fall is still tinged with Summer, so let’s enjoy the beginning of the beautiful Autumn season. While we’re in between hot and cold, we want to stay comfortable. And that means finding ways to wear clothes that look like Fall but feel like Summer, or to wear Summer clothes that feel warmer. Following are some ways we can all dress between the seasons and look good doing it. Age doesn’t matter!
I’m going to New York City for a long weekend trip soon. So I want to learn how to pack everything I need in a carry-on bag and not over-pack like I always tend to end up doing! I have the “just in case” syndrome. I think I got it from being a mom, when I had to make sure we had everything for the entire family. But age doesn’t matter (LOL). Lots of people end up doing the same thing. So, after doing the research, this is how I think I can pack everything into that one little carry-on bag!
A kimono makes a simple dress or jeans and a tee into something special, just like a blazer or jacket. You can cover a body-conscious dress with a flowing kimono. On the other hand, a black lacy tank or any sexy camisole makes a kimono date night ready. Throw a kimono over a hoodie and jeans outfit. Use a kimono as a robe around the house. Or try a kimono as a bathing suit cover-up! There are so many ways to wear a kimono…age doesn’t matter. Take this list, look in your closet, and create some new outfits for yourself!
I have seen people shy away from meditating because they think it is too time-consuming or they just don’t know how. I took bio-feedback to learn meditation and was taught how to go into an alpha state. But after 40 years of meditation, journaling, prayer and Tai Chi, I can tell you that in the end meditating is simple.
You can do it in 17 seconds or just for a minute while sitting at your desk. You can do it while you are in the shower or walking or standing in line. Age doesn’t matter.
If you meditate first thing in the morning, you can make it a good day. Meditation at bedtime can help you fall asleep.
Meditation is basically a matter of focusing on something. You can focus on something that makes you happy or on something that keeps you from thinking and worrying.
Trying to find the right color lipsticks isn’t easy, even if you try them on in the store before getting home. The lighting is different, and it can be disappointing to discover that you don’t love the color like you thought you did. Age doesn’t matter. It still happens unless you can just buy your favorite over and over without the company ever discontinuing it and just give up trying new colors! The temptation is that there are new ones every season. 😉 Well, you can take things into your own hands and mix your own colors!
Often, the older women get the freer they feel to experiment with colors and shapes to express their true selves. Color can also make you look younger not only with the exuberant use of color but also by bringing out the best in your features. However, age doesn’t matter. Don’t we all want to have fun with color and look better because of it? With that in mind, my list that combines Pantone’s Fall Colors 2017 (at bottom) is freely experimental. Have fun with it! There are nine classic accessories that every woman should have. Age doesn’t matter. The following list tells you how to wear each one to best advantage.
But I say: if you want to experiment, go for it! One evening at an Artist’s Way study group, a friend wore her sparkling chandelier earrings with her casual outfit and it looked absolutely gorgeous. 😉
A brilliant article in appreciation of aging appears in the September 2017 issue of Allure magazine written by Editor-in-Chief Michelle Lee. It’s a must-read! Lee has already said it all, but as I always say “Age Doesn’t Matter!” Get an issue today and add her article to your inspiration board. Everything she says is important, but I will try to give you some key ideas here:
- When we use the term “anti-aging,” whether we know it or not, we’re subtly reinforcing the message that aging is a condition we need to battle.
- If there’s one inevitability in life, it’s that we’re getting older. Allure produced a video recently that featured 64-year-old gray-haired Jo Johnson, who declared that aging should be appreciated because “some of us don’t get an opportunity to age.” Growing older is a wonderful thing because it means that we get a chance, every day, to live a full and happy life.
- Together we can start to change the conversation and celebrate the beauty in all ages.
For fall 2017, the newest athleisure look is the leisure suit. You’ll be seeing some pretty jazzed up track suit with a luxe look that looks really good with high heels.
The thing is, everybody likes to feel comfortable. Wearing sweats anywhere you go is so laid back and comfy. Wearing business clothes or evening clothes that are comfy makes the day or evening that much more enjoyable. Continue reading “How to Wear the Popular Athleisure Look”
Today, I’d like to introduce you to an enthusiastic young blogger who was one of my headmistresses when I first attended the Blogcademy to learn how to blog. Her name is Gala Darling, and I have a few examples from her blog that I’d like to share with you because they are all about being your true self. Age doesn’t matter. Her articles are full of fun!
