3 Links To Make You Proud of Your Age

0917 allure cover

A brilliant article in appreciation of aging appears in the September 2017 issue of Allure magazine written by Editor-in-Chief Michelle Lee.  It’s a must-read!  Lee has already said it all, but as I always say “Age Doesn’t Matter!”  Get an issue today and add her article to your inspiration board.  Everything she says is important, but I will try to give you some key ideas here:

  • When we use the term “anti-aging,” whether we know it or not, we’re subtly reinforcing the message that aging is a condition we need to battle.
  • If there’s one inevitability in life, it’s that we’re getting older. Allure produced a video recently that featured 64-year-old gray-haired Jo Johnson, who declared that aging should be appreciated because “some of us don’t get an opportunity to age.” Growing older is a wonderful thing because it means that we get a chance, every day, to live a full and happy life.
  • Together we can start to change the conversation and celebrate the beauty in all ages.

How to Wear the Popular Athleisure Look

How to rock the athletic wear trend

For fall 2017, the newest athleisure look is the leisure suit.  You’ll be seeing some pretty jazzed up track suit with a luxe look that looks really good with high heels.

The thing is, everybody likes to feel comfortable.  Wearing sweats anywhere you go is so laid back and comfy.  Wearing business clothes or evening clothes that are comfy makes the day or evening that much more enjoyable. Continue reading “How to Wear the Popular Athleisure Look”

How to Be Happy Every Day

I strive to be happy every day, no matter what is happening around me.  The main thing I do is search for the good things in each day, and think about all of the things I appreciate and am grateful for.  I’ve gotten through many difficult times by meditating, using the mantra “om”, and doing yoga and tai chi.  Of course, prayer is another way to rise above adversity.

There are many ways to achieve happiness, and we all have our ways.  But I’m always interested in knowing more about how people get happy.  Every day is another chance to form new habits.  Age doesn’t matter.

Before I share with you the habits that bring joy, I want to quote a powerful reminder of what truly makes us happy.  In “The Simple Guide to Being Wonderful” in Spirituality & Health magazine, Emma Seppala, PhD, concludes: Continue reading “How to Be Happy Every Day”

How to Get Good at Layering Bracelets

I love layering:  layering clothes, necklaces, bracelets, rings, anything!  But that doesn’t mean I do it very often or that I’m good at it.  It takes some playing around.  I need tutoring and inspiration.  Perhaps you do, too!  Age doesn’t matter.  So here goes an exploration into how we can layer bracelets… Continue reading “How to Get Good at Layering Bracelets”

How to Make Your Own Lavender Linen Spray

I found this do-it-yourself recipe on the Free People blog, BLDG 25.  It was within an article about organizing your intimates drawer.  Since I have collected so many bras and panties from Victoria’s Secret over the years, what made a huge difference in organizing my intimates drawer was installing drawer dividers for this purpose.  A well-organized drawer is so helpful; age doesn’t matter! How Your Friends Make It Easy to Be Healthy: Carbs

Lowering Carbs

This is a diary of the healthy lifestyle goals that my son, Chris, and I are making together each month.  Since it takes 21-30 days to develop a new habit, making a goal for the month ahead is an effective strategy.

He and I agree that making these monthly goals together and posting our results here for you to see helps us to improve our health.  I’ve always found that if I say out loud to someone what I plan on doing, I’m more likely to do it.  Because if I said I would, I feel responsible to follow through.

Age doesn’t matter.  It’s never too late.  You can always make progress and actually reverse the signs of aging!

In July, Chris and I decided to focus on keeping our carbohydrate intake low. Continue reading “How Your Friends Make It Easy to Be Healthy: Carbs”
