Age doesn't matter.

How to Look Cute When You’re Just Lounging Around

Whether you’re working at home or relaxing on weekends, you can still look good — even when no one’s looking.  Just for you…your true self…body, mind and soul…to be comfortable and beautiful.  So I’m going to share with you my ideas on how to look cute when you’re just lounging around.  Age doesn’t matter.

Since I’ve been working at home writing a fashion blog, I don’t need to get dressed for work anymore.  I’m around the house a lot.  And, of course, I just want to be comfortable.  It’s time to dress down.

Yet I still like to play with colors, scarves are my signature piece, and I like to add a cool piece of jewelry or more.  As always, I don’t like to wear the same thing twice; I like to create endless combinations of what I have.  Yet I have some favorite combos, such as a tunic with skinnies or a maxi with a t-shirt.  And the best thing is:  I love my jeans.

What do you wear when you’re just hanging around the house?  Do you wear sweats or jeans and a tee?  Are you tired of the same old thing and feel like you’re ready for some new inspiration?  Do you want to look great while you lounge in comfort?

Well then, let’s explore:

  • a kimono
  • a shawl-collar, wrap or other cozy cardigan
  • a cashmere robe
  • harem pants
  • leggings
  • footless tights
  • a fringed knitted scarf
  • a shawl
  • thick socks
  • slipper socks

Modern Styles Give Sweatpants an Upgrade

Free People Around The Clock Joggers co-ord outfit

There are lots of new styles in sweatpants nowadays.  For instance, skinny sweatpants made of thinner materials and joggers of all sorts. Ultimately, what could be more comfy than a hoodie with sweatpants?  But it can look a whole lot better in modern styles.

And, of course, on a lazy day, you may want to put your hair in a messy up-do or braid it or add a headband.

Layering for Exercise-to-Lounging at Home

You might want to do some exercise during your day at home. Layering a hoodie and a tank top or tee with yoga pants would work for that.  Or perhaps you could wear an ivory burnout tunic tee tied in a knot at the side with a black sports bra and black yoga pants.

Lounging to Errands

Sometimes you might want the flexibility of running out and doing an errand or two.  You may go out somewhere by neatening up your sweatpants with a matte jersey t-shirt and sneakers to match the pants. Then try adding a delicate pendant and a chunky bracelet to match the tank or tee.  A velour hoodie pant set, or a t-shirt dress would also work.

  • I like to get up and dress for the day. I live a casual life in a casual city – many perfect suggestions here, and I really like the jewellery ideas too.

    • Hi, Ratnamurti – Nice to hear from you! I’m so glad to share my ideas with you. I hope that I am helping to make it easier for you to get dressed with comfort and style every day. XO, Angie

  • Angie, you have shared so many great ideas for comfortable outfits around home. Lately, if I know I am not going to see anyone during the day, I am generally in sweatpants and my bathrobe with no bra! But I do like to be put together if someone happens by my house during the day. So finding cute, casual, and comfortable outfit combinations is ideal for me. Thanks for sharing and linking up.

    • Hi, Shelbee! I like to be my best self when I’m working at home, but it often happens that I’m still in a robe for half the day. If it gets later in the afternoon, I’ll give up on clothes and just wear a comfy pajama-type outfit like pajama pants or some nice sweatpants and a t-shirt or sweater with a gemstone piece of jewelry. Most of the time when I’m staying home, though, I like to show my true self by dressing accordingly. My husband, on the other hand, doesn’t care for me to ever get dressed. Lol! It’s just for me. – Hugs, Angie

    • You’re welcome, Michelle! I hope you have time to lounge around the house! Soon, I’ll post weekend looks, which may be more useful for the working girl. 🙂
