Talking About Leopard

leopard.jpg One day at work, I heard some women talking about leopard prints.  They said, “I couldn’t possibly wear leopard prints.”  They all agreed that they didn’t own any leopard prints and never would, that they were not the type to wear that.

I thought to myself, “Do I wear leopard?”  As I counted the ways, I had to laugh at myself!  Let me see, I have:

leopard print ballet flats and slip-on sneakers, leopard bras and      panties, leopard scarves, a leopard belt, a leopard clutch, a leopard maxi-dress, a leopard fur-trimmed faux leather jacket, a leopard fur jacket, even a leopard necklace and bracelet!  I also have a tiger-print skirt, an animal-print tunic and an animal-print silk t-shirt.  I always get compliments on the fur jacket, skirt and tunic.

I started with one little accessory; I think it was the belt.  Then I added another little accessory.  Then I added underwear.  Then I tried a dress.  And by then, I think I felt free to get whatever I liked!

The leopard accessories, such as a belt, a scarf or a bag can be used in place of a pop of color.  Leopard actually does work as a neutral.  It goes with everything, just like indigo denim does.

In the summer, if your bra straps happen to show when wearing a camisole, it looks better if it’s a pretty color, lace or leopard print.

When I talk about wearing leopard or animal prints, I actually mean “vegan,” or faux leopard.  I once ordered a leopard guitar strap and it took forever for the order to come in.  When I called the store to find out what was taking so long, they said that the hunter was having a hard time finding and trapping a leopard in order to make it.  I thought this was a joke at first, until I was assured that it was true.  I immediately cancelled the order and ordered a different guitar strap!

On a recent cold day, as I walked to my car in the parking lot, I noticed a woman beautifully dressed in a leopard coat.  She was sitting inside her car, but I still noticed her.  That’s what leopard can do:  get you noticed!  Here she is:  Sue - leopard

Please send me any polite comments you’ve heard other people say about leopard.  How do you feel about leopard prints?

Best,

Angie
