How to Get Inspired With Outfit Ideas Based on Color

Recently, I posted three color charts that make it easy to create colorful outfits. Now, I am sharing some outfit ideas based on color, using those charts. I hope that these ideas will inspire you to create new outfits out of what you have. Age doesn’t matter when you wear what you love!

For myself, I find it useful to start by listing all the pieces in my wardrobe that I have in a certain color. And then I look for what I have in harmonizing colors to pair with each piece. You might call this color blocking, when you combine colors other than neutrals.

  • These are all such beautiful outfits, Angie! I love mixing and matching colors. What I frequently forget is that red isn’t just primary red (and other colors). So, when I say I don’t really like red, I forget there is burgundy, rust, etc. When you add in those kinds of colors and then their compliments on the color wheel, color combinations are just about endless! Love that green and purple look!

    • Thanks for your feedback, Marsha! You make a very good point that there are so many different shades in the same color family. I love that the green and purple outfit consists of brilliant jewel colors.
