This is my first style post of the new year and as usual I’m sharing the best of Your True Self Blog! If you’re new here, every week I publish a style post late on Tuesday nights to appear on Wednesday mornings and a weekend blog roundup of the Beauty & Style Spotlight Team on Saturday mornings. At the beginning of each year, I present the top ten most popular blog posts of the previous year. As I looked back at 2025, I discovered there are top ten most viewed posts AND a popular style guide as well! In my Shop, I have two style guides so far and one of them attracted a lot of attention. I hope that you will enjoy reading these ten postings and also consider purchasing the featured style guide.
In everything I present, I always like to remind you that age doesn’t matter. When you wear what you love, you’ll enjoy each day of your life more fully!
Below, I’m starting the countdown from number ten to one and then following that up by announcing the featured style guide. Connect to each one by clicking on its headline.
Thanks so much for visiting Your True Self and have a happy 2026!

Some people think we are going through an apocalypse. It sure seems like it to me politically and socially, even meteorologically. I don’t expect a nuclear catastrophe, but I think we’re going to have to rebuild from the ruins of the world we used to know. As we find ways to survive, there is an entire post-apocalyptic style ready to make it easier for us to show up in creative ways every day. So I figured now is a good time to explore how to combine utilitarian clothes with our creative touch to stretch our wardrobe and make it work for us.
The beige and bronze feature photo of this post shows an outfit in the urban nomadic style by designer Nicholas K. It is a bit more futuristic and not as down and dirty as post-apocalyptic style normally is. But interpreting styles to make them your own in a modern way according to your tastes is what the fashion game is all about. This way, age doesn’t matter because you just tweak the look the way you like. Keep this in mind as you check out the key concepts of how to dress at the end of the world!

Welcome to what’s new from the Beauty & Style Spotlight Team! Every week, we feature our favorite blog topics that span a wide variety of women’s lifestyle issues. Since there’s something for everyone, age doesn’t matter.
In this edition, Marsha explores the joys of September; Lola reviews her very best deodorant find; Barbie shares how AI is transforming cosmetic surgery; Allison explains a new ingredient for hydrated protected skin; Nancy shows how to get the Gucci look from thrifted clothes; and I show how to create outfits for any age with a fusion of punk and futurism.
We hope you’ll take a little rest from the business of the day to enjoy the information and delights of what we have to share with you.
Monday is the first day of Fall, so we wish you the best of the coming season!

I decided to look into some of the more daring choices we have in modern fashion. In the process, I have formed a little guide that can be used as an inspiration to create outfits for any age with touches of punk futurism now. I hope you enjoy it!
It takes courage to wear something new and different from what we’re used to. On the other hand, it takes guts to wear something we wore in the past once we get older. That’s where being true to your self comes in; you never have to stop being yourself. And when you get older, I believe it’s easier to break out of expectations and wear whatever you darn please.
This post is for women who want to do just that…and for women who want to take their look into the future a bit…and for women who have some punk rebel in them…and for women who love to wear black (is that all of us?)
Go ahead. Show your true self. And remember, age doesn’t matter!
