How to Look and Feel Sensational by Using This Advice on Essential Oils

I’m very excited introduce you to Patti Stevens of Live Balanced Naturally. I asked her to share some of her best tips on essential oils, one of her favorite wellness tools. She uses them for health rather than scent. The beautiful aromas are a bonus! In this post, you will learn how to look and feel sensational by using her advice on essential oils. Age doesn’t matter.

Disclaimer:  This is not a sponsored post; I am not receiving compensation nor gifts for this. Since I met Patti on a yoga cruise, I knew that she was a valuable source of information on essential oils. I was really happy to interview her on the subject for my own interest and to share it with you. I hope you enjoy what I found.

Meet Our Essential Oils Wellness Advocate

Patti is an Akashic Soul Realignment® practitioner, a Holy Fire 111 Usui & Karuna Reiki Master/Teacher, Energy Rejuvenation facilitator, certified Pilates and Yoga (including Trauma Recovery Yoga) instructor, breath and meditation facilitator and essential oils advocate. She accomplished all this after 25 years of marriage ended, when she moved to a new location and started a new life.

Now she uses her skills to help women listen to their inner voice and bring their lives into balance — body, mind and soul. And she mentors on healthy living with herbs and oils.

Patti has used essential oils for years and has said they are her favorite wellness tools. She uses them for her family, herself and even her pets.

But she has found that not all products are created the same. After much research, she found a company that produces a therapeutic-grade essential oil that she trusts. She says it helps to bring her into balance physically and emotionally. She recommends doTerra, a company that stands behind the purity of their products 100% to be free of synthetics, fillers, toxins and chemicals. She also offers a complimentary introduction to essential oils. To find out more about that, click HERE.

I met Patti when I attended three of her classes on the Ageless Beauty:  Yoga & Wellness cruise hosted by Cindy Bartz. The classes were “Chakras 101,” “Enhance Your Meditation with Crystals,” and a class that she and Cindy gave together “Chakra Yoga & Essential Oils.” To find out all about the seven chakras, how to balance them with essential oils and more about the Yoga & Wellness cruise, click HERE.

Different Ways to Use Essential Oils

Patti said that every essential oil has a medicinal property and an emotional property.

For instance, the emotional property of lemon oil is focus, anti-stress and anti-depression. That’s because lemon, and any citrus oil is uplifting. It has multiple physical attributes.

Besides using essential oils for physical and emotional healing, you can also clean your house with them! Take lemon oil for example again:  just add vinegar to create a natural cleaning agent for your home.

Here are the ways you can use your essential oils:

You Can Diffuse Them

You can diffuse any kind of essential oil. But you must be careful diffusing around pets. You can research the safety of your oils for your pets or you can arrange for a free consultation with Patti.

You Can Apply Them Topically

Besides using your favorite scents or discovering the oils that serve your particular needs, Patti also recommends doTerra blends. Here are two examples:

  • Immortelle is an anti-aging blend that helps with wrinkles, fine lines, sun damage, scars and more.
  • On Guard is a protective blend that strengthens the immune system. Patti says she puts a drop on the bottom of each foot every day. The feet are one of the fastest areas of the body to absorb oils because of the large pores.

Do-It-Yourself Blends

Besides the recipes that Patti shares with us in this blog post, she has more in her YouTube videos and on her website. You can also research to learn how to create your own blends that serve your individual needs.

There are also certain oils that are therapeutic for face or body that you can add to your lotions or cleansers.

You Can Take Certain Oils Internally

This must be done very carefully. If the label doesn’t say “Safe for internal use” or it says “Do not ingest,” then do NOT take it internally!

However, there are certain pure and therapeutic-grade essential oils that indicate they are safe. doTerra is a company that makes oils so pure that you can eat them! Or you could put a drop in your tea, as Patti does in her YouTube video below. Or you can make your own medicine, such as in the recipe for an Allergy Bomb below.

Using Essential Oils in the Spring/Summer

I told Patti I use essential oils in place of perfume because of sensitive skin in the fall and winter. But I wondered what to do during the spring and summer because oils just didn’t seem to feel refreshing when the weather is hot.

First she mentioned scents that are perfect for spring and summer and then she told me about various ways that essential oils give us physical relief in the sun and heat.

Spring and Summer Scents

As a Perfume

Here are some scents that surround you with the feeling of spring and summer. (You may be able to think of more that you like even better. Or you could blend any of these with other scents you love.)

  •  Jasmine
  • Magnolia
  • Geranium
  • Rose
  • Citrus oils (but these are photo-sensitive, so as a precaution you should not apply them to exposed areas of the skin within 24-48 hours before sun exposure.)

As perfume, first dilute the essential oil in a carrier oil (such as jojoba oil, fractionated Coconut oil, Sesame oil, Almond oil or Olive oil.) Or, you can dilute it in water and witch hazel in a spray bottle.

How to Make an Allergy Bomb

Patty provided the following recipe for allergy relief that you can make yourself. Make sure that the oils you have for this have a supplement fact on the label to indicate they are safe for internal use!

Ingredients:

  • 2 drops lemon essential oil
  • 2 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 2 drops lavender essential oil

Put these three ingredients into a capsule or a couple of tablespoons of water.

Take whenever you need it. Patti said, “you can’t overdose on oils.” She estimated you may take it every 3-4 hours if desired.

How to Make Your Own Natural Sunscreen

Here is one of Patti’s videos from her YouTube channel. You can find her other natural health videos there on a variety of topics. The name of her channel is Patti Stevens.

How to Cool Down a Hot or Heat Flash Immediately

To get Patti’s recipe for using essential oils to cool down right away when you have a hot flash or heat flash, click HERE.  This works for men as well as women of all ages. It’s a cooling spray to carry with you whenever you are in a hot place. Patti’s husband likes to use it when doing yardwork in the hot Nevada sun.

Using Essential Oils in the Fall/Winter

Immunity is especially important in the fall and winter. But until the world rids itself of Covid-19, immunity is an ongoing thing.

It’s the same thing with alleviating stress. Usually that’s most needed during the winter holiday season. But right now, it’s an ongoing need as the world recovers from the upsets of the year 2020.

So Patti recommends taking advantage of essential oils for immunity and stress relief.

Using Essential Oils for Rejuvenation

Facial Cleansing with Oils

Oil, Geranium, Leaves, Flowers, Essential Oils

Adding oils to our facial cleansing routine has become popular. Oils contain anti-aging properties which improve the texture and appearance of your skin. Patti guides you through how to choose carrier oils and essential oils for an anti-aging way to clean your face. Check out her blog for “Oil Cleansing — The Natural Way to Healthy Skin” HERE. It’s especially good for olive oil cleansing which is a healthy, gentle, inexpensive and natural facial cleanser I’ve heard recommended by dermatologists.

Anti-Aging Essential Oil

For its anti-aging properties, Patti recommends putting geranium essential oil into your nighttime facial cleanser.

  • I love essential oils, and plant oils too. My favourite EOs are rose (for summer) and sandalwood (for winter). And thank you, Angie, for those kind words that you wrote on one of my posts. I was really impressed by your Life Journey. I’ve been looking for quite a while for like-minded blogs, and am glad for our connection.

    • I feel the same. Glad to connect with you! After jotting it down on your blog, I see that my life journey is an artistic one. I guess I am meant to share my artistic talents that I inherited from my family. I hope I am helping to make women’s lives easier, more beautiful, healthier and longer! XOXO

  • I’ve been having some good results from Do-Terra essential oils. I know 2 sisters here in GDL who sell it and know a lot about it. It helped me with a hiatal hernia, which was very surprising. (I also reduced the size of dinners so that I don’t get overly full.) Now I’m trying it for macular degeneration!

    • Wow, Elaine, I didn’t know essential oils could heal bigger issues; I’ve only heard of general healing for skin, immunity and such. Thanks so much for sharing this with us! It’s great to have alternatives.
