Lace-up Tops, Lattice Tops or Crisscross Tops: How to Wear It

I have a roomy t-shirt that has crisscross straps at the v-neckline. Since I’ve had it awhile, I was feeling the need to come up with more ways to wear it. While I was surfing the net for ideas, I found that I needed to use a variety of terms to find what I wanted. I looked for lace-up tops, lattice tops and crisscross tops. Yet I found only a little in each category of exactly what I was looking for. There were lots of sexy, bare tops shown, but that’s not what I’m talking about. A lace-up top can be subtly sexy or it can be more romantic, like a soft blouse or a poet’s shirt or even a peasant top. I hadn’t even been thinking of those and I own each of them.

My focus at the moment is more of a t-shirt with a lace-up neckline as a camisole, tank, short-sleeve, long-sleeve or tunic length top. These can be worn on their own in warm weather and layered during cool weather. Do you have any of these? Let’s take a look at a few ideas on how to wear lace-up tops. Age doesn’t matter.

Outfit Ideas for Lace-Up, Lattice or Crisscross Tops:

  • Wear a lace-up tank or tee over blue jeans. Accessorize with dangle earrings, bead bracelets, rings, espadrilles and a woven bag.
  • A short-sleeve lace-up t-shirt front tucked into a short jean skirt. Add a chain necklace above the crisscross lattice.
  • Top a lace-up tee and blue jeans with a sheer or semi-sheer tunic shirt worn as a jacket. Or top with a kimono or duster instead. During warm weather, add blat black sandals + big hoop earrings + a couple of narrow gold or silver bangles + sunglasses if sunny.
Matte Jersey Lace-Up TankMatte Jersey Lace-Up Tank from White House Black Market can be worn alone during warm weather and with a jacket during cool weather.
  • A lace-up top + black pants. If the top is tunic length, wear with leggings or skinnies. Add black heeled booties + a long pendant + bangles + hoop earrings. You might like to top with a black drape-front cardigan and a fedora hat.
  • A lace-up top front tucked into blue jeans. Add a floppy hat or fedora + two or three rings.
  • Wear a lace-up tee over yoga pants. But it has to be long enough, to cover the rear. That’s the beauty of high-low tops.  😉

Creating Outfit Combinations for Less Cost Per Wear and More Enjoyment

The examples above are the style of my top that I was searching ideas for. Now it’s time to look at my poet’s shirt and peasant tops and lace-up blouses in the same light. First, I would see if I could style them with the same pieces as in the ideas above. Then, I would see if there are any bottoms in matching colors or toppers that would go easily over these tops. I plan to write a post next spring on ways to wear peasant tops.
