Nothing to Wear? How to improve your chances!
One morning, looking for an outfit to wear, I began to reach for a top and scarf that were haphazardly beside each other that happened to match perfectly. But then I saw another sweater that matched as well. And then I thought, “Oh, maybe I should stick with my first idea that I had last night…”
I turned around, looked at another pairing and then another, and sighed, “So many possibilities; there’s too much to wear!” Then I laughed, thinking of the common phrase, “I have nothing to wear!”
My guess is that the latter lament happens to everyone at some time or other. Age doesn’t matter.
After noticing how the outfit possibilities seemed endless, I would write them down to wear later. The list grew to the point where I concluded that I could never wear them all. That’s how I decided to share them with you in this blog.
So let me show you how to come up with more variety in your outfits…
Nothing to Wear? Here’s How to Improve Your Chances
Once you make sure you have the basic wardrobe items needed, here’s all it takes to find new ways to wear them:
1) your favorite things, 2) accessories and 3) imagination.
Let’s get started!

1) Change Up a Basic Outfit With Your Favorite Things
A top, a bottom, and perhaps a topper make up the basic outfit. Once you own the basics of your choice, see how many ways that you can put them together. Make even more combinations by adding your favorite things, such as tunics, caftans, maxis, capes, the latest trends. They will take the boredom out of basic outfits that anyone can wear and put your individual stamp on your look.
The following two blog posts are guides for the wardrobe basics you need that will give you the perfect starting point for creating the greatest variety of outfits. With these staples in your closet, you can just add colors, accessories or a piece that is uniquely you.

2) It’s All in the Details

Accessories refresh your outfits and give them style. Add a scarf, belt, vest, hat, amazing shoes, one or more pieces of jewelry, etc., to suddenly create your own unique look. You could just about wear the same kind of thing over and over every day, and it would look different simply by adding different combinations of accessories each time.
For instance, add a statement piece to an otherwise basic outfit. Perhaps the easiest way to spice up a bland outfit is to add a statement necklace. Some people are more comfortable with earrings or bracelets or scarves. Choose whatever it is that you love best.

3) Use Your Imagination and Have Fun!
Now that you’ve added some of your favorite things to your basics and accessorized the way you like it, all that’s left to do is use your imagination. You’ll get more outfits by envisioning new ways to wear what you have. Take an outfit that is boring to you and look at all the pieces in your closet to see if anything would go with it. Mix colors and patterns that you never would have thought to put together. Experiment and have fun!

Turning “Nothing to Wear” Into Endless Possibilities

Have I provided you with enough inspiration to create new outfits from your wardrobe? Perhaps you would like to buy something new here or there, but mainly it’s a matter of how you combine things.
When I get a new item, I wear it more often if I start by matching it up with as many things I have as possible: colors, tops, bottoms, toppers, accessories, etc. I write it down so I remember in the future.
How can you create infinite possibilities with the clothes in your closet? Please share your ideas with us in the comments below this post!

It is amazing how changing out the accessories, especially a belt, can change the entire look or vibe of an outfit! Thanks for the ideas and the links to other posts!

You’re totally right that the vibe is unique each time accessories are changed!
I tend to wear sets the same way over and over again. I shall remember your tips!
Thanks, Nancy! I bought a few similar sets in different colors and then wrote down every which way that I could mix and match them. I do love sets <3
