How to Enjoy Whimsigoth Style in the Spring & Summer
Whimsigoth is a beautiful mix of magical, dark gothic influences with romantic, faerie-like layers of flowing bohemian style. The deep colors, rich textures, boots, etc., are perfect for Fall and Winter. However, the sheer and billowy fabrics, skirts and dresses easily adapt this look to wear for Spring and Summer too. I’ve already covered the basics of what’s needed to create outfits for the cool seasons HERE. In this post, I’m focusing on inspiration for the warm seasons ahead. Age doesn’t matter with this Victorian-based trend.
How to Enjoy Whimsigoth Style in the Spring & Summer

For Whimsigoth style in Spring and Summer, focus on whimsical prints, rich jewel tones, and lightweight fabrics like velvet or chiffon or crochet. Prints include celestial motifs, florals, paisley and nature (such as butterflies, birds, plants, etc.) Incorporate billowy maxi skirts, layered tops, and accessories with starry or mystical themes to complete the look.
Vintage Eastwinds Black 100% Cotton Cable Knit Cardigan from ChickieAndJack at Etsy over a long black skirt with mystical jewelryTake any Spring/Summer piece of clothing, such as an openwork cardigan, in black or a jewel color. Opt for deep colors such as emerald green, sapphire blue, and amethyst purple. Mix unexpected colors, like pink with darker skirts, to enhance the whimsical aspect.

I love this style, I remember when it first inception back in the 90’s. Sadly, you don’t see it on the streets anymore.
Hi, Anna – Since you love it, I hope you are the first one to wear it again on your street! Enjoy – Angie
I never heard of this Style but it looks cool yet feminine.
You got it, exactly! Great interpretation, Nancy.
I love the whimsigoth aesthetic, but I don’t think I pull it off well. These are all such beautiful examples. I really like the kimono from Three Bird Nest. That’s a retailer I’ve seen but never purchased from.

Hi, Marsha – There’s no worries about pulling it off, as you can tell by the feature photo of this article (chosen only for my brand colors in it!) Yesterday, my whimsigoth-inspired outfit was a t-shirt with stars all over it and a pair of leggings printed with black cats, moons and a starry night sky, finished with black boots (in suede and it was a chilly day.) You could choose just one velvet piece in a jewel color and wear it with anything!
