Age doesn't matter.

How to Wear Polka Dots: Outfit Ideas for Polka-Dot Skirts

Polka dots are trending this Spring and Summer, as they seem to do every year. Am I right?! That makes it a classic and as I always like to mention, that means age doesn’t matter. So I came up with eight outfit ideas for polka-dot skirts. That’s the only thing I have in that print, which led me to decide that I may as well keep this blog post simple. But it actually branched out a bit as I thought of more things. So I added a couple of other stylings including outfits for transitional weather, a little information on print mixing and a style tip at the end.

I hope you get inspired to come up with some new ways to wear your polka-dots clothes. You might even find something you’d like to buy, but that’s probably not necessary. Feel free to play with the pieces you have and enjoy!

  2. Tuck a silk blouse into a polka-dot skirt. Belt at the waist with a brown concho belt. Layer bead necklaces. Add a jeweled gold cuff bracelet + long jeweled earrings, matching or not.
  3. Tuck a navy silk shirt into a navy & white polka-dot skirt. You might like to add navy leggings underneath. Layer necklaces. Add sandals.
  4. Start with a tank top & bike shorts the same color as your polka-dot skirt. If the skirt has a button front, unbutton it as high as you want (even all the way up.)

How to Style Polka Dots at the End of Summer

Polka dots aren’t just for Spring & Summer. Wear them for transitional weather too, such as at the end of Summer when the temperatures cool down or at the end of Winter when the weather warms up. During those times, layer your polka-dot clothes by adding base layers, toppers, tights, boots, scarves, etc.

Style Tip:

Think of wearing leopard prints as if the spots are dots! Any of the outfit ideas here can be used with a leopard print in place of a polka-dot print.
