While self-quarantining at home, this is the perfect time to explore how to style pajamas as daywear. And then as we gather in public again, this is always a comfortable style that can be made chic for around town and for evenings. Age doesn’t matter!
So today I’d like to explore ten ways to wear pajamas as daywear, along with some tips to help inspire you further. Even if you stay at home, you’ll look like you’re actually dressed! Best of all, you can drop into bed at the end of a tiring day without changing…or rather, my favorite is to get up in the morning already dressed. 😉 All you have to do is accessorize for day.
When my kids were in high school, the girls started wearing pajama pants to school in place of their regular pants, skirts or jeans. And they managed to look perfectly normal. After that, I learned from my daughter that I could go about town in pajama pants as long as they looked presentable (such as plaid, etc.) So if I was just going to run out to the store or something like that, I would wear a t-shirt and a pair of plaid pajama pants with street shoes and accessories.
In the last few years, designers have been creating pajama sets for day that are made of luxe materials and look quite glamorous. For instance, the Johnny Was catalog sells some nice ones (see above.) An updated pajama set can be made of satin or velvet. And a velvet pajama set that has a camisole top can actually be used year round.

Here’s what one retail analyst told Vogue Business:
“We are reluctant to continue calling [athleisure] a trend… much in the same way that denim is not a trend,” said Mintel retail analyst Chana Baram. “Rather, sports clothing is embedded in the fashion world.” – from Vogue Business

One of the warmest ways to wear a skirt is to wear it in leather! (But please always be sure it’s faux leather to be kind to animals.) If you think it’s too sexy for you, take a look at the wide range of choices in the cut of the skirt, the colors it now comes in, and the cozy everyday ways it can be worn. I have ideas here for how to make 40 outfits with a faux leather skirt.
Age doesn’t matter. If it looks good on you, wear what you like! More and more, anything goes. Rules are constantly being broken.
Opposites look great together, as in leather and lace. If a leather skirt seems tough to you, feminize it! Wear it with a preppy or ladylike top and accessories if that’s what you like. Suddenly the leather will give you a little bit of attitude, making you look more energetic, sexy and youthful.
Wear it your way. Show your true self. To get you started, here’s how to make 40 outfits with a faux leather skirt. Use what you have and make them your own.
