How to Style Pajamas as Daywear: 10 Ways

While self-quarantining at home, this is the perfect time to explore how to style pajamas as daywear. And then as we gather in public again, this is always a comfortable style that can be made chic for around town and for evenings. Age doesn’t matter!

So today I’d like to explore ten ways to wear pajamas as daywear, along with some tips to help inspire you further. Even if you stay at home, you’ll look like you’re actually dressed! Best of all, you can drop into bed at the end of a tiring day without changing…or rather, my favorite is to get up in the morning already dressed. 😉 All you have to do is accessorize for day.

When my kids were in high school, the girls started wearing pajama pants to school in place of their regular pants, skirts or jeans.  And they managed to look perfectly normal.  After that, I learned from my daughter that I could go about town in pajama pants as long as they looked presentable (such as plaid, etc.) So if I was just going to run out to the store or something like that, I would wear a t-shirt and a pair of plaid pajama pants with street shoes and accessories.

Yoru Set from Johnny Was is a daytime pant set, worn here with flat sandals

In the last few years, designers have been creating pajama sets for day that are made of luxe materials and look quite glamorous. For instance, the Johnny Was catalog sells some nice ones (see above.) An updated pajama set can be made of satin or velvet. And a velvet pajama set that has a camisole top can actually be used year round.

How to Wear Sweatpants When You’re Not at the Gym

Sweatpants can be part of a stylish outfit whether around the house or out on the town.  You can be comfortable and look great at the same time.  Age doesn’t matter.  In this post, I have plenty of ideas for you for how to wear sweatpants when you’re not at the gym.

Because of it’s lasting popularity, athleisure has now become a classic style.  You can buy luxe athletic clothes or dress up athletic clothes that you already own.  In this post, I will explore how to embellish your sweatpants.

Here’s what one retail analyst told Vogue Business:

“We are reluctant to continue calling [athleisure] a trend… much in the same way that denim is not a trend,” said Mintel retail analyst Chana Baram. “Rather, sports clothing is embedded in the fashion world.” – from Vogue Business

No matter where you go, day or night, or even if you want to lounge at home looking classy, not frumpy — you can wear sweatpants and look great doing it!  Add a special top, topper, scarf, jewelry and/or footwear for a modern and stylish look.  Mix and match your sweatpants with evening wear or business clothes.  Those pieces that you save for special occasions can be made wearable any time by combining them with sweatpants.  So let’s take a look at how to wear sweatpants when you’re not at the gym! Why Is Style Important, Even Now?

When the Coronavirus invaded our world, fashion and style seemed to pale in comparison to the serious issues that we suddenly had to deal with.  Many fashion bloggers wondered if what they had to offer was important.  So why is style important, even now?  I found some answers.

The first thing that I thought to do as a fashion and lifestyle blogger for women over 60 (age doesn’t matter; we all have the same basic needs) was to address the issues of health and well being, physically and emotionally.  But then, I wanted to reassure you that style is indeed important.  I am talking personal style here, not fashion.  We don’t need to keep up with the latest fashions during a pandemic.

“Fashion is not art; it’s the art of living.” — Marc Jacobs

But style is artistic and creative.  And creativity and art are personally fulfilling and inspirational, thereby reducing stress — something needed especially at a time like this.  It is good for your mental and emotional health to distract yourself from anxious thoughts and focus on something pleasurable.

Also, color and crystals are healing therapies.  We can wear both to feel better.

So let’s explore further:  why is style important, even now? Continue Reading

How to Wear Yoga Pants Out and About

I think yoga pants get a bad rap.  But perhaps I view them from a unique angle.  I wear leggings but I do not have any yoga leggings.  All my yoga pants are boot-cut.  I find them comfortable because they have the stretch of leggings; and I find them convenient because they go easily from yoga practice to the street.  So let’s take a closer look at how to wear yoga pants out and about.

I’ll wear yoga pants not only when doing yoga but also when lounging at home, when doing errands around town and when at business casual events.  It depends on the type of yoga pants.  Black ones in a nice material can even by styled for casual evenings.

The main thing to keep in mind when wearing yoga pants is that your top should come down low enough all the way around so that it covers your rear.  That’s the difference between classy and trashy.  And when you’re classy, age doesn’t matter.
