In the Mood for a Fun and Delicious Romance Novel?

Are you in the mood for a fun and delicious romance novel? As soon as I received this new book from New York Times best-selling author Caridad Piñeiro and Hallmark Publishing, I was excited to read it. And yes, it was as good as it looked!

It’s like “Top Chef” meets Cupid. The main love affair blooms through the sense of taste. The author really acquired a lot of knowledge about what creates the highest quality in foods, including many in the Cuban tradition. And she describes it delectably.

The Story

Two chefs who grew up together in South Beach are reunited when they are asked to cater the fifteenth birthday parties of two girls who are rivals. These traditional Cuban coming-of-age parties are known as quinceañeras.

Only one of the celebrations will be chosen to be featured in the local paper. Both chefs have something to prove and a lot at stake.

As I read the book, it became harder and harder to put it down. And then, as the central relationship got sadder and more difficult, the situations became funnier! That was the perfect way to keep the entertainment level high, as well as my curiosity. The actual tears came with the sentimental moments that were filled with love.

The plot proceeds with creative solutions. You’ll come away from reading the story with meaningful lessons put forth by more than one theme.

Takeaway

All in all, this is a fun and delicious romance that was a pleasure to read. It is sweet like a many-layered cake filled and frosted with love, rich and satisfying. Many generations are involved and a love story is something we can all appreciate. Age doesn’t matter.

Once the story ends, there is a bonus:  a special Cuban recipe for Tres Leches Cake With Banana and Coconut. Mmm, delicious!
