How to Look Good & Feel Comfortable Everywhere in Elevated Athleisure
Athleisure isn’t just about casual wear anymore. It began as wearing gym clothes as street wear. Then it became more and more about luxury comfort: first as dressed-up loungewear and now as elevated athleisure. This trend takes on a more polished and sophisticated edge that can be worn anywhere. Dressed-up athleisure is perfect for running errands, casual meetups, low-key travel days, or even business or day-to-evening events.
Think luxurious fabrics, tailored joggers, and sporty-chic jackets. It’s an excellent way to blend comfort with style. Age doesn’t matter.
You don’t actually have to be athletic to sport this trend (pun intended.) But you might feel fitter just by wearing these outfits. Who wouldn’t want that?
How to Look Good & Feel Comfy in Elevated Athleisure
Let’s look at what this style entails and how to combine various pieces into outfits you’ll love.
Beyond Yoga says of their Easy Wide Leg Pant above:
“Easy and breezy is the life for these super-soft, silky and flowy pants. Made of our airy, lightweight Stretch Woven fabric with a simple yet flattering wide leg design and elastic waist that tailors to fit you like no other. Wear these to work, all weekend long, while traveling, basically any moment when you want that perfect combination of comfort and style.”
When it comes to functional fashion, 2025 is all about performance-driven pieces that prioritize comfort. Athleisure garments are designed to be breathable, stretchable and comfortable, allowing you to move freely, wherever your day takes you. The fabrics used in modern athleisure are built to work as hard as you do, providing moisture-wicking properties and flexible stretch.
Choose from half-zip tops and track tops to chic hoodies. You can incorporate these pieces into your everyday looks. The key is in the styling. Think about color, texture, volume, and layering pieces into your look that will make them look fashion-forward and luxe.
Feel free to accessorize lavishly, such as with pearls and sparkle.
Or on the other hand, you might like to wear a baseball cap with your outfit.
Heels go just as well with the elevated athleisure look as sneakers.
Ways to Wear Elevated Athleisure: Outfit Ideas
- In the photo above, track pants take the place of trousers with a white tank top + a blazer + sparkly earrings + metallic flats, with hair in a messy updo.
- A long-sleeve crewneck t-shirt + track pants + a (faux) leather blazer. Add a chain necklace + sturdy boots/shoes.
Linen Jogger Pants from Zara with a pointelle cardigan - Pair a pointelle or crochet sweater or cardigan with dressy jogger pants. Add bangles and heeled sandals.
- Wear silver or gold sneakers with flared yoga pants, track pants or any sporty outfit.
The Upside Fortuna Roma Pants, AGOLDE Callie Cropped Blazer and We the Free Allistar Pointed Boots from Free People - Wear a cropped blazer and matching shell with track pants & nice booties, such as pointy toe. If cool, drape a cardigan around shoulders to have handy when needed.
- Wear a t-shirt, track pants & blazer all in the same color. Add statement earrings & chunky heels/booties.
Norma Kamali Side Stripe Spat Leggings from Free People with a blazer - Look for high-quality leggings. Wear as above with a silky top + a blazer + ballet flats.
- High-quality leggings with an oversized cashmere sweater or a sleek, longer-length bomber jacket. Add slip-on sneakers or clean, minimalist trainers for a look that’s casual yet put-together.
Sideways Heather Pants and For the Win Tee (with front tie) from Free People – the pants have seaming, darting, and zipper-adorned paneling at front for convertibility from a wide leg to a straight leg depending on your daily style. - Tuck a gray t-shirt into black joggers and belt it. Top with a black (faux) leather jacket. Add black booties + a silver and/or gold necklace + a statement ring.
- Wear a button-down shirt over track pants, joggers or sweatpants. If cool, top with a trench coat. Add sneakers or heels.
Tricia Fix Lace Sport Tee and Menorca Slouchy Capris from Free People with sneakers - Wear a black cashmere sweater or silk top over black joggers. Wear sneakers, heels or anything in between.
- Pair a cycling top or something similar with a beaded or sequined skirt.
KHAITE Farris oversized satin-paneled bomber jacket from Net-A-Porter over a dress - Wear a bomber jacket or track jacket or anorak over a dress or skirt, whether short or maxi length.
- Wear a hoodie over a midi or maxi skirt, possibly even with an asymmetric hemline. Add heels or booties.
- A short-sleeve or sleeveless hoodie over a floral skirt. You might want to simply add flip flops.
Hot Shot Tank from Free People over a lace skirt - Wear an athletic top over a lace or sequined skirt. Add sneakers.
- I always say that animal prints go with anything. So pair an animal-print top with track pants or joggers.

You can now find luxe athleisure clothing in stores. They are getting better and better all the time. But whatever athleisure pieces you have, combine them with your fanciest clothes and jewelry with abandon. And then, go forth into your days in comfort!
