How to Get More Outfits from Your Suits

Do you always wear your suit as an ensemble?  Do you remember to break it up in order to get more outfits out of it?  I’ve often heard it advised to hang all your jackets in one area together, all of your skirts together, all of your trousers together and all of your vests together with your tops so that you can see the possibilities.  If you’d like to get more ideas for how to get lots more outfits from your suits, you’re in the right place.  That’s what I do:  come up with outfit ideas galore!

Not only do I have lots of outfits here for you to choose from and inspire you, but I also have nine (9) style tips in this one blog post.  You can break up your suits to get outfits to wear every day for every purpose (work, weekends, evenings, etc.)  Age doesn’t matter.  So let’s get creative and have some fun!

I’ll start with a couple of tips, then I’ve got more tips sprinkled into the following categories:  outfit ideas for a navy linen blazer, a classic blazer, a tweed blazer, a pinstripe blazer, pinstripe pants, tweed pants, trousers, a skirt from a suit, a vest from a three-piece suit and other ways to break up a suit.

Tips on How to Spring Clean Your Closet

As spring comes on, it’s time for the annual swap of putting away our heavy winter clothes and pulling out our light and bright springtime things to wear.  In my last blog post, “How to Really Enjoy the Transition to Warm Weather,” I gave you outfit ideas for the changing temps.  Now it’s time to give our closets a spring cleaning.  So I have some handy tips to share with you on how to spring clean your closet.

I love being able to add to my beautiful wardrobe, but I struggle to get rid of things.  I have these ideas that someday I might need them or want them or that I should hang on to less-than-ideal basics until I can find the ideal version.

I am always trying to better organize what I do have.  It makes it much easier to come up with new outfit ideas when you can see the colors and types of clothing clearly.  And besides, I like things to be neat and orderly.  Perhaps you do, too.  Age doesn’t matter; it’s our inner peace that’s important.  And order creates calm mornings and inner happiness, and a beautiful home and beautiful clothes to live in.

In my efforts to control clutter in my closet and wardrobe, I collect tips on how to accomplish this.  My favorite guide to transitioning my wardrobe from winter to spring is my post on “How to Clean Out Your Closet for Spring in 6 Easy Steps” in my Check Lists and Guides category.  With that already available to you (just click on the title to link to it), I am posting here today some tips to consider on getting things under control.

How to Conquer Your Closet and Look Your Best

Since Marie Kondo’s book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up:  the Japanese art of decluttering and organizing sold over eight million copies in over 40 countries and stayed on the New York Times best-selling list for so long, it’s obvious that people around the world are plagued by clutter.  I assume age doesn’t matter because clearing clutter is an ongoing situation.

In my recent blog post “How to Make More Outfits Out of What You Have,” I provided a list of the basic wardrobe items you need to have or buy for spring and summer.  In this post, I am giving you tips and links to help you get rid of excess clothes that make it difficult to get dressed and look your best.
