Style Tip: How to Wear Velvet to Make Every Day Special

Welcome to my holiday series of outfit ideas based on velvet. As I write this, Thanksgiving is coming up. So starting today, I am publishing a blog post based on a different velvet piece each week until the New Year. There will be posts on ways to wear a velvet top or shirt, a velvet blazer or jacket, a velvet duster or kimono, a velvet skirt, a velvet dress and velvet pants. Today, I am starting off with a style tip to inspire you with ideas for how to wear velvet to make every day special. To see more tips, click on my Style Tips Series HERE.

How to Wear Velvet to Make Every Day Special:

Noa Velvet Slip Skirt from Free People with a graphic tee and boots

Pair a velvet skirt or pants with something simple, like a knit t-shirt.

For example:  Wear velvet pants with a vintage-inspired graphic tee and a faux leather jacket or fur vest. Then add a ton of bangles.

With a Sweater

Whitby Velvet Wide Leg Pants from Soft Surroundings with a sweater

Wear velvet pants with a simple sweater to make any day special. Add comfy flats and a favorite piece of jewelry.

With a Shirt

Birmingham Solid Pants from Free People with a shirt and sneakers

To make every day special, combine velvet trousers with a casual shirt and sneakers. You could add a relaxed blazer or jacket and a cap. To lend an edgy vibe, a classic chunky chain necklace does the trick.

With a Turtleneck

Gloria Velvet Joggers from Anthropologie with a turtleneck

Since velvet jogger pants are already laid back, you can just wear them with a turtleneck and flats. Anything sporty or casual will go with them.

With a Peasant Blouse

Sisilia Cuffed Velvet Pant from Johnny Was with a peasant blouse

To make any day special, wear peasant blouses with velvet pants and mules. A delicate necklace is a quiet yet classy touch with just about everything.
