How to Start Practicing Yoga
Yoga refreshes the mind, body and spirit. It helps tone the body and keeps the internal organs and the hormone system in the right balance.
Age doesn’t matter. Yoga is one exercise that can be done by people of all age groups. In fact, with the passing of time, one of the most important physical exercises that can be done is yoga. People from all walks of life can benefit from the advantages of a course like that of theYoga teacher training in India. There are many people over 50 and 60 who can flexibly touch their toes and clasp their hands behind their back.
The trick is to start the yoga practice at a slow pace and to be patient with yourself as the class progresses. Gradually, the body stretches further and further and becomes more flexible.
There is a fool-proof method of starting the practice of yoga regardless of the age of a person. This method is as follows:
I was walking in the woods with my friend one day and she began to talk about her feet. (Maybe they were starting to get tired from the hike?) So I told her about the time I went to a podiatrist and he was raving about a new invention!
My son, Chris, and I have been making health goals together each month for years. I wrote about our experiences with this in my Health Goal Diary here on the blog. It has made a big difference in our health habits, especially with diet and exercise.
It has been beneficial to both of us. Age doesn’t matter. Besides keeping us healthy, it has kept our weight down and made us look our best.
We took a break when the weather got cold in the fall and the holidays rolled around. We got busy, sick, and then surrounded by holiday feasts and goodies.
When we decided to take a break from making health goals, we had a conversation about how overwork was taking a toll on us. Self care was lost in the shuffle and we needed to find time for ourselves and our needs. It was a goal that has not been easy to achieve.
Intending to think about what I needed to do to make time for myself, I dove right back into my work and never gave it another thought. So I’m taking a moment in writing this post about self care to explore what I need to do that I haven’t been doing all this time. I’m hoping this will be helpful to you as well.

For almost three years now, my son Chris and I have been making health goals together every month. Although we are from different generations, age doesn’t matter when it comes to health. We have the same goals of good dietary choices, exercise, sleep and such. These habits create lifelong health.
Since Chris and I started to share monthly health goals with each other, we’ve improved our lifestyle. In 2017, we got to the point where we were both down to our ideal weight, improved our eating habits, and developed exercise routines that worked for us.
In 2018, we were humming along very well, until October. At that time, we became deterred by time, weather, sickness, and then the holiday season.
Now that a new year is beginning, Chris and I are reviewing last year’s goals and planning new goals, picking up from where we left off. Our last goals were to try to get back our previously good habits of exercising regularly and eating foods that are good for us. Continue Reading
