Age doesn't matter.

Spotlight on the Best of Your True Self Blog 2020

As the incredible events of this past year went on, my life didn’t change a whole lot…until Christmas, that is. While COVID spiked, gifts had to be mailed or exchanged outdoors with masks on and our family didn’t gather this year. Basically, though, I continued to work from home on this blog throughout the year. Now that the year is ending, I’m ready to shine a spotlight on the best of Your True Self Blog in 2020. And as a new year begins, I extend good wishes to you for health, prosperity and happiness!

Spotlight on the Best of Your True Self Blog 2020:

When reviewing my statistics, I can see that women of all ages read Your True Self Blog. The ten most popular posts of the year appeal to a wide variety of interests. Most of these seem to be attractive because of the versatility of certain types of clothing. That is a common thread throughout. (No pun intended! 😉 Since in most of the cases below, I have shown how to style these wardrobe pieces in different ways and for different events, age doesn’t matter. So I hope you’ll take the time to enjoy your favorites from the following ten topics!

#10. What to Wear on a Warm-Weather Cruise Made Easy:

As I was packing for my first Caribbean cruise, I was searching online for what to pack. But there wasn’t anything that made this task easy. All of the information was broken down into different categories and I had to cobble together my own packing list. So after all the trouble I went to, I came up with a general list that covers all the bases. The only thing left to do was to share it with my readers.

No wonder it was so popular! If you go on a cruise in the future, you’ll want to keep this post handy. Because going to the airport, a ship and all the activities involved on a cruise requires a simple solution to packing for a complicated itinerary.

#9. It’s Here:  The New Fashion Flash is Out Now!

I am a member of the Fashion Flash group of women bloggers over 40 who take turns hosting this weekly e-magazine. Although we blog with women over 40 in mind, the featured posts cover a wide variety of topics for the modern woman. So age doesn’t matter.

It’s the experience of these wise women bloggers that makes them some of the best. When you see what they do and the background and affiliations they have, you will be awed (as I am.)

In the past, we also had podcasters JoJami and Lana from Ladies Roadmap on our team. They ended their podcasting journey recently. But you can still listen to their previous interviews of pioneering midlife women by clicking on last year’s editions of Fashion Flash.

My readers seem to love it best when the entire online magazine is available to read in its entirety right here at Your True Self. When you see the words “It’s Here,” you will know that I am hosting. When it’s not my turn to host, I give you the link to the blog where the newest Fashion Flash can be found.

I am hosting the next issue here in a few days. It is the New Year 2021 edition. So stay tuned for a treat!

#8. How to Be Modest in Absolutely Anything Bodycon:

This post has been a favorite for a couple of years. It got a lot of attention in 2020 from being featured in Fashion Flash. So keep your eye on the Flash every week when I connect you up with it. Because even if I am not the host of the week, I always have a post featured in the online magazine for women over 40. And you never know what my topic will be. Age doesn’t matter.  😉

This subject of how to wear bodycon clothes is an important one. If you are well-endowed in certain parts of your body, you might have a hard time wearing things that other women don’t have a problem with…unless for certain times when you want to be sexy. If you have some tight, body-conscious clothing that you like, you don’t have to toss it in frustration just because it is too revealing. There are ways to wear bodycon clothes so that everything doesn’t have to show.

#7. How to Get Good at Layering Bracelets:

There are a few tricks to layering bracelets. In this post I elaborate on what they are. You can see how to mix colors, metals, textures and shapes. Then you can discover how to combine and stack them. This was posted a couple of years ago and never seems to get old.  This year it got more views than ever!

#6. How to Layer a Slip Dress Like a Pro:

Here’s another long-time favorite. As visitors came to my blog, so many of them found this post and loved it. There’s so much you can do with a slip dress besides wear it all by itself. Readers appreciate variety in their wardrobes by using each piece in as many ways as possible. Once you layer a slip dress, it goes from summer evenings to anywhere and anytime.

#4. How to Wear a Sleeveless Blazer in Classic and Unusual Ways:

Obviously, a sleeveless blazer is great for staying cool on hot, summer business days. #3. What Are the Best Ways to Calm Our Fear and Anxiety?

When I wrote this post, it was March of 2020 when Americans realized that COVID-19 had hit where we live. Suddenly the store shelves were bare and the streets were empty. There was a sense of panic. As I tried to calm my own fear and anxiety and that of my family, I discovered 17 things that could be done. In this post I shared what I had begun to do, knowing that there is much more. This discussion was welcomed by so many readers that this blog post made it to #3 on my chart of most-loved posts 2020.

#2. How to Use Singing Bowls to Heal Body, Mind and Spirit:

In September, my daughter gave me a Tibetan singing bowl as a gift. Singing bowls are meditative tools used as an aid to heal body, mind and spirit. This was especially welcome in the year 2020! A discount code is included for your benefit. I didn’t know that singing bowls would resonate with so many people. But it sure did!

#1. How to Dress Like an Artist and Look Young:

This post has been getting views over and over for quite awhile. It came about because of an idea that struck me when I looked through pictures of women “who refuse to dress their age.” The pattern was that these women were usually artists. And if not, then they have an artistic eye like me. That doesn’t mean that I actually dress as flamboyantly as they do.

But it’s true that you get bolder as you get older. And I had often visualized in my mind what I would wear when I got older:  I would have the freedom to wear dramatic clothes like capes and caftans. Being a member of the Red Hat Society was something I thought I would do. Well, I have been invited to my local Red Hat Society but have been too busy to join yet. I still plan on it.
